CPL §245 Review
Effective January 1, 2020, New York State enacted significant revisions to existing discovery obligations associated with the Criminal Procedure Law.
Article 245 requires the prosecution to provide the defense with “discoverable materials” within 15 days of arraignment (or within 45 days if the prosecution applies for an extension). The new law also defines sanctions for non-compliance.
4N6 Services can review these materials for you highlighting significant evidence, results that you should be aware of and pointing out materials that should have been provided within the automatic time frame.

Case Evaluation
Modern criminal investigations generate a staggering amount of forensic evidence from different agencies, often without a cohesive focus. Understand your case better by allowing 4N6 Services to evaluate all of the forensic evidence that has been collected to determine its significance, the relevance to your case and to evaluate if there is other evidence that still must be documented or collected to paint a fuller picture.
Evidence/ Crime Scene Documentation
The true value of physical evidence is not realized if it is not appropriately documented. Pictures must have the proper illumination and the camera must be in the proper orientation to avoid any distortion. Notes must be accurate and taken contiguous to the observations the notes are documenting. Allow experts from 4N6 Services help you preserve one of the most powerful witnesses in your case.

Crime Scene Reconstruction
Crime scene reconstruction is similar to taking a picture at a critical moment, making it into a jigsaw puzzle and then trying to identify the picture working with only 60% of the pieces. While reality differs from fictional portrayals, there still can be immense value in evaluating all the available evidence and using it to try and understand key moments of an incident. The cumulative value that comes from understanding all the physical evidence can often allow the locations and relative positions of victims, perpetrators, and witnesses to be determined at specific times during an incident and, on occasion, allow specific events to be sequenced. Contact 4N6 Services today to see how we can help you better understand critical events in your case.
Training
There is no better way to improve the recognition, collection, analysis and understanding of physical evidence than providing training to individuals at each step of the process from scene investigators to laboratory scientists and ultimately to the attorneys that must advocate based on their understanding of the evidence’s value. Examples of training provided by experts from 4N6 Services include:
- Understanding the Science and Statistics Behind Today’s DNA Testing
- Incorporating Concepts of Quality Assurance and Quality Control into Crime Scene Investigation
- Forensic Photography (basic/advanced)
